The September campout will be a dove hunt.
- (September 26th to 28th, www.flyingpoutdoors.com)
- All scouts must have completed a hunter education course in order to attend.
- All scouts must purchase a hunting license and a dove stamp.
- For a scout 16 and under, the cost is $6 annually.
- For a scout 17 and older, the cost is $23 for the hunting license and $7 for the dove tag.
- Note that a valid hunting license also covers the October Deer hunt and the December Hog Hunt.
- Stuff to Bring :
- We will be primitive camping in a field. Bring appropriate gear for camping as usual.
- We will supply ammo (4 boxes) as part of the camping fee. You are welcome to bring your favorite ammo in addition to what we will supply.
- Important to have :
- Swimsuit + Towel !! We will be swimming in a pool during the mid-day hunting break.
- Energy Bars (for morning hunt and evening hunt)
- Drinks for the hunt (water is best)
- Large ziplock baggies + Magic Marker (to keep your birds in. Must be labeled for each hunter ... state law)
- Camo shirts, pants, hat (buy cheap at Academy, Walmart, etc), or tan shirts, pants, hat.
- Snake chaps (yes, there are rattlesnakes). The ones that go over your shins/boots only.
- Leather boots (tall boots are better)
- Eye Protection (sunglasses) & Ear Plugs
- Short stool or swivel bucket with seat (about $9 on sale a Academy).
- Swivel buckets can hold ice for drinks and your birds
- Flashlight for the morning hunt
- Nice to have :
- Game scissors
- Soft leather gloves
- Game bag ... holds shells and birds ... buy cheapest you can find
